RVTD levy on track to pass

Jackson County, Ore. — Public transportation supporters turned out for the Rogue Valley Transportation District tax levy.

Late Tuesday night numbers show 61.58 percent voted yes to the levy. Measure 15-141 would cost 13 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value each year for five years. That’s $26 for a $200,000 home.

“I’ve worked for the district for 20 years. This is a long time coming and it couldn’t have come at a better time and we’re really excited the community is seeing the value of transit and that we can actually provide good service for them,” RVTD General Manager Julie Brown said.

With the levy’s passage Saturday and evening services will be restored along with more route 10 services. The levy would also expand service to Southwest Medford, Rogue Regional Medical Center, and the Rogue Community College Table Rock Campus.
