UPDATE: Central Point search warrant uncovers explosive device

Update: Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies confirm an explosive device was seized during a the service of a search warrant in Central Point.

Authorities said prior theft cases led police to the house on the 9400 block of Blackwell road Friday night. While deputies were serving a search warrant, then came across the device.

“During the search warrant, we located several articles of stolen property, and also what we believed was a, possible explosive device,” Sergeant Scott Waldon said.

The Oregon State Police Bomb Squad responded, and removed the device from the house. No one was injured.

A number of other items were seized, but deputies will not comment on what was taken, so as not to compromise the investigation. We’re also told one person was arrested on a warrant, however their name is not being released at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

Authorities tell NBC5 there are several explosive devices at the residence, but won’t yet say if anyone has been arrested or the nature of the search warrant.
