Semi Truck Fire Destroys Books

Around 4:30AM Thursday morning fire officials responded to a semi truck trailer fire off interstate five just south of the Oregon-California boarder.

When crews arrived they saw a trailer engulfed in flames and thousands of books on fire. The driver of the truck was able to make it out okay after he quickly detached the trailer from the cabin of the truck.

The contents inside the trailer, thousands of used books ranging from textbooks, dictionaries, to light reading material was destroyed. The books were on their way from Arizona to Washington to be recycled.

Fire officials say the blaze started in the rear wheel of the trailer and quickly spread due to the flammable material. Traffic was backed up for nearly three and a half hours going Northbound on I-5.
