Several organizations bring autism awareness to downtown Medford

MEDFORD, ORE. — April is Autism Awareness Month and today several organizations gathered to bring that awareness to downtown Medford.

Nine groups set up tents at Vogel Plaza.

It was their goal to not only share thier resources with those who may be affected, but the community as a whole as well.

“I think the more the awareness gets out I think there will be a lot more acceptance. And hopefully, we’ll be able to see people that are affected by autism be a lot more successful in the community, in employment and higher education,” said Kathy Keesee, the Community Outreach Coordinator for Swindells Resource Center.

Some of the resources included independent living, reading and family support programs.
