Sheriff’s Office Investigates Murder-Suicide

Police say Sunday evening they found a man and a woman shot dead at a home in the 2300 block of Butte Falls Highway.

“The female victim died of a gunshot wound and the male from a self-inflicted gun shot wound,” said Andrea Carlson, spokesperson for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say the 911 call came in around 6:11 in the evening and they say the call was made by family members.

Officials say it looks like a case of domestic violence.

“The male party involved, he’s from Eureka, and he’s a firefighter down there apparently,” said Carlson.

Authorities say the man involved is from Eureka, California where he worked as a firefighter.

“It sounds like the family and people who knew these two people said there had never been signs of domestic issues that they saw,” Carlson said.

Officials say investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police are trying to unravel the details and trying to piece together the events that lead up to two people, found dead.

At the time of this posting, the Sheriff’s Office has not yet released the names of the two people involved. They are waiting until next of kin has been notified.

Police also say they believe there were only two people in the home at the time of the shooting.
