Medford, Ore. — Dozens of National Guard soldiers got a warm welcome home Wednesday morning at the Rogue Valley International Medford Airport.

“I’m waiting for my husband,” said Olga Henderson.

She said goodbye to her husband a year ago.

“It’s been a long year,” she says.

The couple married just before her husband Carl’sdeployment to Afghanistan.

“We have been together for overfifteen years, but we just got married before he left,” she explains.

The memory of a special day, on another very special day as Henderson and many other families welcomed home their beloved soldiers from overseas.

“I’m here to see a friend of mine coming back, his name is Kevin Husky,” shared Carl Bleigh, a member of the Roseburg Patriot Guard.

Henderson patiently waited, counting down the minutes and thinking about what she would do when she saw her husband.

“Give him a great big hug and a kiss.” she exclaimed.

Excitement built as the soldiers plane taxied, but Henderson’s hug and kiss had to wait a little longer as the soldiers were quickly taken by bus to Roseburg for a brief ceremony.

Henderson along with dozens of others anxiously waved hoping their loved ones would notice.

“It’s beautiful. It’s admirable to see so many bikers come out, people from the community just to come out and support them.”
