Strosser leads republicans in Jackson Co. Commissioner race

Jackson County, Ore.– Incumbent Doug Breidenthal is running for reelection while being accused of misusing public funds, conflict of public interest, and fraud. And it appears the ongoing investigations are hurting Breidenthal.

Commissioner Breidenthal is facing off against former Medford City Councilor Bob Strosser and businessman Gordon Challstrom. At 10:30 Tuesday night Strosser had a commanding lead at 47.97 percent and Breidenthal at 25.23 percent. Challstrom had 26.45 percent.

Strosser said he’s happy to continue trying to represent a place he’s called home for so long, and that’s been so good to him.

“This has been a great place and we have a great valley. I intend to do my very best to keep it exactly that way,” Strosser said.

We reached out to Breidenthal to get his reaction to the results tonight. He told NBC5 News last month that if he wasn’t reelected he would consider filing suit against Jackson County over what he believes is a “smear campaign tactic” used against him in this election process.

Jackson County filed an ethics complaint against Breidenthal last fall. When we asked him about a potential lawsuit he told us it wasn’t a good time to talk about it.

Medford School Board Chair Jeff Thomas is running unopposed on the democratic side, so Strosser will face off against Thomas in the general election this fall.
