The Bybee House

It’s tall white tower stands as a landmark. at the last turn between Medford and Jacksonville. Frank Bybee built the house in 1887, and it has been standing every since. Current owner Beth Baker says “the more we looked into it, The Bybee Inn was the father’s house and this was his son’s Frank’s house and they were very

prominent in the area at the time. The house eventually fell into years of despair, until 1994 when Beth’s father poured his heart into it. He renovated the house, converted the old water tower into a suite, and made it that country home filled with windows you could gaze out all afternoon long. Beth says ” When I drove up my first thought was my dad was crazy…it was in bad shape. in here the tower it was like an old barn, but they renovated into a B and B and we had a successful one for a Year and half” When her father passed so did the dreams of keeping the Bybee house as a business venture…but it’s potential is still there. “There are 3 bedrooms in the house, each their own suite really..each has their own bathroom.

The 2 point acres the house sits on has shade and some sun and also has promise. Beth says “we have a fenced in garden with raised beds, we have gazebo perfect for events.”

No matter what the next owner does, Beth hopes they care for it, the way her family always has. ” I just hope whoever buys it falls in love with it, it deserves it.”

A piece of Medford history, ready for a new chapter to be written.
