The Great Holiday Meal Drive

Holiday Meal Drive FINALMedford, Ore. — As the holidays are approaching there’s a growing need to keep food banks stocked for Rogue Valley families in need.

ACCESS, one of Medford’s local food banks, serves 11 to 12 thousand people every month.

This holiday season, ACCESS is hoping to bring in 100 to 120 thousand pounds of food and they’re looking to the community to make that possible.

“This time of the year when circumstances are more dyer for families. Children that are part of those families need to get fed,” says Philip Yates, ACCESS Nutrition Program Director.

Nonperishable food items and canned goods are a necessity for the food banks but, this Thanksgiving you can provide a complete hot holiday meal for those in need.

Visit any southern Oregon Safeway or Albertsons to purchase Turkey Bucks.

1, 5, and 10 dollar amounts will go towards  pre-made hot holiday meals that one of the local food banks will distribute to hungry families.

And kicking off The Great Holiday Meal Drive, on Tuesday November 24th, NBC5 news will be broadcasting live at the Safeway off Crater Lake Highway from 4 to 7:30 pm be sure to stop by and support local families.
