Thieves caught on camera trying to steal security system

Grants Pass, Ore.– A man is seen in surveillance video, caught off guard because he’s not supposed to be on there to begin with.

“What an idiot. How can you describe it any other way.”

Normally there would be video in Joshua Bancroft’s car dealership security camera system, but because the cameras have been stolen you see nothing. Car lot owner Bancroft believes the man caught on camera is one of the thieves.

“We have facial recognition of two thieves,” said Bancroft.

And it’s not the first time Rigs & Rides has been hit. “Four or five weeks ago we had everything taken.”

It cost him $1200 to purchase five new security cameras.

“You have to restring the entire building to get them to work again.”

But not all is lost. Bancroft’s own surveillance video is now in the hands of police.

“One guy points one of the cameras at the other guy while he’s dismantling it.” He said the two men got away with four of their five cameras that are installed on their roof early Monday morning.

“We don’t really know what their interest in the camera are.”

Now he’s just hoping someone will recognize the man’s face and call police.

“Downtown Grants Pass isn’t the safest place. I’d love to see a community where there isn’t drugs or thieves.”
