Thousands gather to taste a variety of cheeses

Central Point, Ore.– Thousands of people got the chance to taste all sorts of cheeses from around the state today at the 11th annual Oregon Cheese Festival.

The annual event took place at the Rogue Creamery in Central Point. Samples were given from cheese makers as north as the Portland Metro area and as far down south from right here in the Rogue Valley.People also got to taste local wines and beers.

“We come down every year for the cheese festival. It’s a really good thing to attend. Everybody down here is so friendly,” said Mike Matychuck visiting from Hilsburough.

“It just seemed like a really fun thing to do on the weekend with my son and it’s exciting to get out and try some new flavors of wine, cheese, chocolate,” said Athena Goldberg from Medford.

The festival is put together by the Oregon Cheese Guild and next year’s festival is already lined up.
