Three men rescued from Rogue River after boat flips

RIVER RESCUE PICSams Valley, Ore. — Three men are rescued from the Rogue River, after their boat flips over, sending them all into the frigid water.

Just before 10 AM on Saturday morning, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was called to a water rescue on the 300 block of Rogue River drive, near Dodge Bridge Park. Search and Rescue, and Oregon State Police also responded.

“They said that they turned sideways, banged into a tree, and the next thing they knew, they were all in the water, and the boat was rolling over on top of them,” Deputy Jason Denton said. “No time to put on a life jacket.”

Officials say two of the men were able to swim to shore, and the third was picked up by another boat. All three are okay. Deputies say it’s a good reminder to always wear a life jacket while on the water.
