Tow truck drivers keeping busy with wet weather

Central Point, Ore.– A Medford towing company said it’s crunch time for their drivers when snow and rain hits the valley floors.

And a lot goes into being a truck driver. The roads are slick and they have to get to calls fast. But drivers like Richard Johnson who goes by RJ said his number one priority is keeping his customers safe.

“I like to help people and do what I can to help them.”

And he didn’t have a minute to spare since the start of his shift.

“Been going non-stop since one o’clock”

Sisters Sharon and Jackie in Central Point were thankful for RJ’s quick response after Jackie’s car battery died. And she had to drive to Gold Hill.

“I had Triple A and I can get home now.”

RJ said the weather this fall has kept them just as busy as they are in the summer.

“Last year it slowed down quite a bit at this same time.”

And said it’s not rare for his crew of 22 truck drivers to respond to a total of 90 calls on a night like this.

“When we’re busy it doesn’t slow us down as much as the rain the cold. Makes everything slippery makes you get cold, makes you get your hands cold,” said RJ.

Rain, snow, or shine RJ knows he just has to keep the roads clear.

Dicks towing is also picking up drivers who may have had one too many drinks for free. They’ll take you and your car home until New Years Eve.
