Update: New Developments in Franklin Case

We first introduced you to Jacob Franklin last October.

“Someone has to keep this in the forefront, ” said former Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Jacob Franklin.

The father of four won an almost 210,000.00dollar wrongful termination lawsuit against the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Franklin said he got his check.

But, there’s more.

Federal documents show the court ordering Jackson County to pay for Franklin’s attorney’s fees and destroy an internal affairs file about Franklin.

He says that hasn’t happened.

“It’s been five months and they’re still goofing around with it, ” said Franklin.

The county claims they have destroyed the files locally. If the state has documents, they can’t do anything about that as they have no authority.

Franklin said an internal affairs report was forward to the state and that document is keeping him from getting a job.

“I’ve been turned down for two more jobs and one of the two quoted Jackson County and said that’s the reason why you are not getting employed here,” explained Franklin.

He says the county hasn’t paid for his attorney fees either.

The county claims Franklin’s attorney fees are not reasonable and they’re asking the judge to look it over.

He says ultimately he wants this situation behind him and hopes to get closure to a case that has lingered on for more than a year.
