Veteran son, father laid to rest with military honors

EAGLE POINT, Ore. — A Grants Pass veteran who lost his life to lung cancer was laid to rest Friday morning.

Family, friends and fellow veterans honored Robert ‘Bobby’ Elesky Jr. at the National Cemetery in Eagle Point.

Elesky was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2013 and passed away in February. His wife said one of his last wishes was to have a motorcycle escort, which he got on Friday.

“They did a wonderful job,” said Venera Valieva-Elesky. “They are just absolutely amazing and it was just a huge honor to be part of the escort, being in the car.”

Elesky’s father, Robert Sr., was also a veteran. They both received full military honors and were honored by the Old Guard Riders.
