Winco to build store in Grants Pass

Grants Pass, Ore. — Plans are underway for a new Winco shopping center in Grants Pass.

The City of Grants Pass planning division received an application for a 72,000 square foot building at the corner of Terry lane and Grants Pass parkway. The new store could mean lots of jobs!

The new store could mean lots of jobs. 150-180 full time workers are expected to be hired once the store is completed. That’s something Grants Pass residents tell us they welcome.

“I think it’s great, in this economy a lot of people could use jobs, I think people need work,” said beverly Chastain.

“I’m no grocery sacker but for the locals, there’s a lot of people that don’t have work so that’s always a good thing,” said Joey Johnson.

“I think that’s great – it’s wonderful,” said Kathy and Tom Fuller.

The planning division will take 6 to 8 weeks reviewing the application. They say the project is expected to be started in spring and take 9 months to build.
