Young Girl Approached by Man on way to School

White Mountain Middle School officials sent kids homes with letters detailing an attempted abduction that happened early Wednesday morning.

It’s terrifying,” said Atheena Kasper, parent of a student at White Mountain Middle School.

Police say a female student from WhiteCity Schoolwas walking near the intersection of Hale Way and Falcon Street in when she was approached by a White male in his 40’s.

The man tried to get her attention but she ran away.

” She’s shaken up like anyone would be in a situation like that,” explained Andrea Carlson, Public Information Officer for Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim described the suspect’s vehicle as an older model white or beige minivan.

” In this case, she did everything right. She ignored the vehicle and when she could she ran,” said Carlson during a press conference in White City.

Schools officials aren’t commenting on the situation but parents and students of White Mountain Middle school have a lot to say.

“This is concerning though,” said Kasper, who was picking up her son up from school. Her son chimed in from the back seat of the car. “If that happened to me, I am going to tell you right now, I’m going to cuss up a storm,” said Draven Kapser confidently.

Police say they find the case troubling because of a recent report with a similar suspect description and series of events. Investigators say residents all over the valley should be on high alert.

” I would think all residents need to be concerned at this point. We had a situation in Phoenix with a very similar descriptions,” said Carlson. Police say they’re patrolling the area for the suspect and hope parents talk with thier kids about “stranger danger.”
