BANDON, Ore. – A magnitude 5.4 earthquake off the Oregon Coast failed to trigger any tsunami advisories.
The earthquake occurred at about 8:00 a.m. Wednesday roughly 140 miles west of Bandon, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake, which occurred at a depth of nine miles, did not trigger any tsunami warning, advisory or threat.
The quake occurred along the Blanco Fracture Zone which is a very active area and has produced quakes of this size a number of times in the past, geologists said.
