Magnitude 6.3 earthquake recorded off the Oregon Coast

COOS BAY, Ore. – A magnitude 6.3 earthquake was recorded off the Oregon Coast Thursday morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey said quake occurred at 8:07 a.m. PST in the Pacific Ocean about 180 miles west of Coos Bay.

The earthquake occurred in the central portion of the Blanco Fracture Zone between the Juan de Fuca and Pacific Plates.

According to the USGS, the source of the earthquake was at a depth of 7 miles. It failed to trigger any tsunami watches or warnings.
