Man accused of killing Grants Pass couple sentenced

Grants Pass, Ore. – The man accused of killing a Grants Pass couple in June has been sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison.

Brian Killian was accused of killing Jerry and Joann Jackson of Colonial Valley during a robbery.

“Because he didn’t want to get in trouble for stealing, he decided to kill them,” Josephine County District Attorney Ryan Mulkins said in court.

Oregon State Police in Josephine County responded to the Jacksons’ home on June 15, 2015. Troopers found the Jacksons dead, the apparent victims of homicidal violence. The Jacksons’ labradoodle was also found dead.

“The murders themselves were very violent,” Mulkins said. “There was a lot of blood at the crime scene.”

Police later identified then 28-year-old Brian Scott Killian of Grants Pass as a suspect in the murders. He was arrested after he was found driving the Jacksons’ PT cruiser.

After a numerous court appearances, Killian was found guilty of murdering the Jacksons.

On December 16, 2016, Killian was sentenced in a Grants Pass courtroom. He will spend two consecutive life terms behind bars.

Killian is expected to be back in court for sentencing in two other cases involving vehicle theft and hit and run that occurred several days before the murders.
