Man accused of racial based threat changes plea

Medford, Ore., — A man accused of threatening a Talent resident because of his race appeared in court today.

Joseph Murdock is facing several charges of intimidation as well as disorderly conduct.

According to court documents, in April of 2016, Murdock threatened to burn down David VanHook’s home, because he’s black.

Today Murdock changed his plea from guilty, to no-contest.

Murdock was sentenced to 30 days in prison, three years post prison supervision, and no contact with David VanHook or his family.
