Deschutes County, Ore. – Police responded to a multiple vehicle crash on Highway 20 west of Tumalo around 9:30 Sunday morning.
Oregon State Police say a Toyota pickup truck driven by 45-year-old Sherwood resident David Fincher lost control while going around a corner and crossed into the oncoming lane. Fincher’s truck crashed into two separate vehicles. One of the vehicles, a Volkswagen Jetta driven by Bend woman Sarah Peterson, was carrying a 2-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy.
Police said the 2-year-old girl suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Peterson and the 7-year-old were transported to the hospital.
According to OSP, Fincher was arrested and charged with manslaughter in the second degree. Additional charges are pending.
Troopers said the investigation is ongoing.
