Man arrested after allegedly firing gun in downtown Rogue River

Update (03/25, 12:20pm) — Police have identified the suspect as 59-year-old Russel Omar Winn III, of Rogue River. Officers with the Rogue River Police Department say that Winn is alleged to have fired off two magazines of .45 caliber rounds into the air and into buildings in the downtown area.

0325 RR SHOOTING MUGAccording to police, Winn was apprehended on the I-5 overpass by a Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy who talked him into dropping his weapon. Winn is being charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief.

Police add that the owners of the Country Cottage Cafe were asleep upstairs at the time of the incident. There have been no reports of injuries.

Rogue River, Ore. – A man is in custody after police say he walked through downtown Rogue River firing a .45 caliber handgun.

According to the Rogue River Police Department, the incident occurred at around 3:30 Friday morning. They say a .45 caliber slug has been recovered from the Country Cottage Café located at 210 E. Main St.

The investigation is ongoing and NBC5 News will have more updates as they become available.
