Man arrested after two-year vandalism spree

0908-chad-renickMedford, Ore. – Medford Police began investigating a string of vandalism in the Rogue Valley that began in April of 2014. Officers said reports were taken from six different businesses. The damage included broken store front windows and roofing nails being spread throughout the parking lots.

Detectives said they determined the businesses were all in a dispute with 40-year-old Chad Jay Renick, who had allegedly been calling some of the businesses making homicidal or suicidal threats.

According to Medford Police, detectives served a search warrant at Renick’s Ashland residence on Wednesday. Evidence linking Renick to the vandalized businesses was collected.

Police said Renick was subsequently arrested and interviewed. He was lodged on ten counts of criminal mischief in the first degree.

MPD said detectives are trying to locate any additional victims who may have sustained tire damage from nails while visiting the businesses. The targeted businesses are listed below:

  • Southern Oregon Neuropsychological Clinic, 837 Alder Creek Drive
  • Personnel Source, 707 Murphy Road
  • La Clinica, 1307 W. Main Street
  • Medford Medical Clinic, 555 Black Oak Drive
  • Shlesinger and De Villeneuve Attorneys, 408 S. Oakdale
