Man arrested for impersonating Central Point detective

Central Point, Ore. – Police arrested a man who allegedly visited a home posing as a Central Point Police Department detective.

CPPD said on February 28, 45-year-old Leif Johnson arrived at a home saying he was investigating a case involving bullying and threats made on a school bus.

According to the victim, Johnson told her she would be arrested if he had to return to the home.

Following an investigation, police arrested Johnson on two charges of criminal impersonation.

“Cases where an individual impersonates a Public Servant are critical because of the betrayal of the public trust and the potential safety of an individual coming to a victim’s residence in the auspice of doing a criminal investigation,” police wrote on a Facebook post about the incident. “We take these cases very seriously due to the vulnerability of individuals who are dealing with a suspect impersonating a Public Servant.”
