Man dies, two others hospitalized for overdose symptoms at Britt concert

JACKSONVILLE, Ore. – Three people suffered apparent overdose symptoms during a Britt Festival concert Thursday night. One of those people later died.

According to Jacksonville police, the first call came in at around 6:45 p.m. during a concert by reggae band Rebelution. Another call occurred at about 8:00 p.m.

Police said three people were transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center, two males and one female. The three were reportedly in the same group of friends and were displaying symptoms of
overdosing on an unknown substance, the Britt Festival said.

One of the three, identified by investigators as a man, died at the hospital.

According to the Britt Festival, the group told paramedics they ingested the drug prior to their arrival at the concert.

The Britt Festival said the organization “extends its deepest sympathy for the family and others impacted by this incident.”

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement team are investigating the incident.
