Man, dog recover from first degree burns in house fire

SUNNY VALLEY FIRE 2Sunny Valley, Ore. — A Sunny Valley man and his dog are recovering from first degree burns Monday  night, after their house went up in flames, leaving them homeless.

On Sunday morning just after 11:30, fire crews were called to the 1800 block of Placer road, for a reported structure fire. When crews arrived, they found the two story house completely engulfed in flames. Fire Marshall Mike Shaw of the Rural/Metro Fire Department said electrical problems likely caused the fire.

“Somewhere related to the pressure tank for the well, and the hot water heater in that area of the fire, that’s where the occupant stated that he first saw fire, and he had some issues with it the night before,” Shaw said.

The man and his dog have been treated for their burns. Two other people were in the house at the time, and escaped without injury. Firefighters say the house is a total loss, the American Red Cross is assisting the family.
