Man near Ruch flown to hospital with stab wounds

UPDATE 03-05-2016: The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports police arrested Jeffrey Scott Ernest Gourneau after they say he stabbed his brother Rodney Lee Gourneau in the neck.

Deputies say the two were fighting near Mckee Bridge on Upper Applegate Road, when it escalated and Jeffrey stabbed Rodney. They say Jeffrey then drove Rodney to the Applegate Fire Station for help, where he was taken to Rogue Regional Medical center in a helicopter.

Jeffrey Gourneau is in jail on charges of attempted murder and assault in the first degree.

Ruch, Ore. — Two men are in the hospital tonight, one of them with stab wounds.

The victim was driven to the Applegate Fire station in Ruch shortly after 5:00 this evening.

He was then airlifted to Rogue Regional Medical Center and we are told by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department that his injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

The man who drove the victim to the fire station was taken by ambulance to the hospital, his injuries are not known.

The patrol and detective division are investigating, but say there is no public threat.
