Man rescued from ledge near Natural Bridges

0606 Natural Bridges RescueCurry County, Ore. – Search and Rescue crews rescued a man who had slipped and fallen down a steep embankment near Natural Bridges between Gold Beach and Brookings on Sunday afternoon.

The Curry County Sheriff’s Office said 23-year-old Centerville, Ohio resident Bric Bane called 911 to report he had slipped 50 to 100 feet down a steep embankment. Bane said he was on a ledge that was starting to give way and he couldn’t hold on much longer.

According to deputies, the distance from the ledge to the rocks below was approximately 150 to 200 feet.

Search and Rescue members were dispatched to the location of the call, and quickly set up a rappelling system. Crews were then able to life Bane back to safety.

Deputies said Bane suffered minor injuries in the fall, and had abrasions to his fingertips from grasping small vegetation that kept him from falling the additional 150 to 200 feet to the rocks below.0606 Natural Bridges Rescue 01
