Man sentenced for fatal pedestrian crash

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – A drunk driver who hit and killed a Klamath Falls man in November of 2016 was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Charles Edward Vermillion pleaded guilty Tuesday to manslaughter charges.

Police said Vermillion jumped the curb on Shasta Way and hit pedestrians Joseph Carter and Chelsea Thompson.

Carter died from his injuries, while Thompson suffered a broken leg.

Vermillion’s blood alcohol level was more than 3 times the legal limit, according to police.
