Man seriously injured in G.P. hit-and-run to be taken off life support

0831 Luke LeclereGrants Pass, Ore. — A follow up to a story NBC5 first brought you in August:

The family of a Grants Pass man involved in a hit-and-run plans to end life support on Friday.

Luke LeClere was found unresponsive in the middle of Redwood Highway in Grants Pass late last month.

He was flown to Portland where he’s now in a coma. Friday is LeClere’s 31st birthday.

On a crowdfunding page dedicated to LeClere, his sister wrote in part, “Thank you all for your donations.  Although we did not raise enough money to bring Luke back to Iowa, the money raised was nearly enough to cover flying family out for the duration of hospice to say goodbye and the cost of services to carry out his final wishes.  We fell just $300 short of total cost and simply could not have done this without you.  There are no words of gratitude deep enough, no thank you that could ever carry the emotion I feel.  My heart is yours.  Love.”
