Man shoots woman with nail gun, turns it on himself

0607 Nail gun assaultLane County, Ore. – A Creswell man allegedly shot a woman in the back of the head with a nail gun, then turned the nail gun on himself.

According to Oregon State Police, a 911 call made on June 1st reported a man and woman had attempted suicide along Highway 58 near Eugene.

Police said when emergency crews arrived they found the man and woman with multiple nails inside their head. They were transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

OSP said an investigation revealed that 31-year-old Eugene resident Eve Pagliaro and 46-year-old Creswell resident Troy V. Thompson had rented a nail gun with an air compressor the day before in the Eugene area. They then drove to Goodman Creek Road, east of Lowell, Oregon.

Troopers said Thompson shot Pagliaro multiple times in the back of the head with the nail gun. He then turned the nail gun on himself, shooting himself in the back of the head at least once.

On June 6th, officers said Thompson was arrested by OSP troopers and charged with assault in the 1st degree. Pagliaro is remained in the hospital and is still in critical condition.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
