Man suspected of breaking into cars arrested after foot pursuit

0812 broken car window uemvMedford, Ore. — Police have arrested one man, and are actively searching for another tonight, following a string of car break-ins in west Medford.

Just before 7:00 Friday morning, a resident on the 50 of Peach Street reported to police that a man was trying to break into his car. The resident was able to scare him off.

Police said the man got into a car, and drove away. Officers found him driving through downtown Medford. They say he jumped out of the car at Earhart and Central and took off on foot.

Police were able to arrest 31-year-old Jeremiah Richards. He’s facing a number of charges, including attempting to elude, reckless driving, reckless endangering, and possession of meth.

Medford Police are still searching for a second suspect. Their name or description has not yet been released.
