Many reservoirs low despite heavy rain

RAIN

Despite all this rain meteorologists with the national weather service say we’re still in a drought. Meteorologists say many of the reservoirs in Southern Oregon and Northern California are still very low, about 20 percent of where they should be by the end of the season. And we’re still in a moisture deficit of  anywhere between eight and 20 inches across our area.

“We’re about four inches above normal where we should be for the month but with that much of a deficit we’re going to take quite a bit. We would have to continue for the entire winter like this to get us out of a drought total,” said Sven Nelaimischkies.

However our snow pack is 150 percent above where we normally would be for this time of year. Meteorologists say that could set us up for a very good summer.
