Medford City Council votes to ban all marijuana grows

MARIJUANA TOWN HALL PICMedford, Ore. —  The Medford City Council votes to ban indoor and outdoor marijuana grows.

Councilors in favor of the ban say it’s a quality of life issue, and say residents have expressed concern about grows in their neighborhood. But those against the ban say it’s a violation of medical marijuana users rights.

“Under state law these people have the right to engage in this activity,” councilor Clay Bearnson says, “and I don’t think it’s our job to create another hurdle for them.”

A second reading of the ban is scheduled to take place during next Thursday’s council meeting at noon. Just last month the council voted to allow medical marijuana dispensaries within city limits.
