Medford city councilor opens new medical marijuana dispensary

Medford, Ore — One of Medford City council’s most vocal pro-marijuana voices is expanding his business portfolio so he’s opened a new dispensary within city limits.

Oregon Farmacy had their soft opening Monday and now join a small handful of medical marijuana dispensaries within Medford city limits.

Bearnson, Councilman for Ward 2, says he’s spent his time on the council pushing for looser marijuana laws such as allowing the sale of recreational marijuana.

Only medical marijuana is allowed at this time.

Despite those restrictions, Bearnson says he never planned on opening his new business outside the city.

“I want to operate my facility to the letter of the law and be a compliant model facility because I have a vested interest in Medford,” said Bearnson.

In the November general election Medford residents will have the chance to vote on whether or not to allow recreational sales with a 3-percent tax.

Oregon Farmacy officially opens later this month.
