Medford Rotary Relays brings hundreds of athletes to the Rogue Valley

Medford, Ore. — The Rotary Club of Medford is bringing together sixteen schools for the first major track and field event of the season.

The Medford Rotary Relays brought more than 500 athletes to North Medford High School today. Sixteen teams from all over Southern Oregon competed in both track and field events.

Organizers say it’s a good way to for the kids to check out their competition before the real start to the season.

“The more people that are here, the more excitement there is, and it’s, since it’s the first track meet of the year, it’s kind of a, a chance to check out, you know, what, what the competition’s like out there,” said Rotary member Mark Chirgwin.

The Medford Rotary Relays have been a tradition since 1939, when there were only four teams. It’s now the second largest track and field meet in the state.
