Medford teacher asked to take down “Black Lives Matter” sign

0923-blmMedford, Ore. — Only a couple weeks in a South Medford High School teacher creates controversy in the classroom.

A student took a picture of a “Black Lives Matter” sign in a social studies teacher’s room which circulated among the parents.

The Medford School District said it asked him to take it down, which he did without protest.

The district said teachers are always free to express their opinions, especially in a class like social studies as long as they indicate the opinion is their own and not the school’s.

The district said the sign was an inappropriate expression of opinion.
