Medford, Ore. — Medford teachers are one step closer to having a contract through next year after Monday night’s school board meeting.
The Medford School Board voted unanimously to ratify a one year contract with the Medford Education Association.
The contract includes a 2.5% cost of living increase for all licensed Medford School District staff.
Board chair Jeff Thomas celebrated the collaborative process leading to the vote. He said, “We shared a lot of interests first before we sat down and started negotiating and I would like to thank the district team and the board for taking a very positive approach to this.”
The teachers’ union will still have to hold a vote to ratify the contract. If they approve, the new contracts will take effect on July 1st of this year.
