Medford tourism increase

For the fifth consecutive year, Medford saw increased economic growth and employment due to the travel industry.
According to Travel Medford more people are visiting the area and they want to keep that momentum going.

Their annual report shows a 3.7% increase in tourism from last year, for a total of $500 million tourism dollars.

A growing wine industry and sporting events at U.S. Cellular Park are contributing to the growth.
“We’re getting more people visiting Medford and we’re getting more rooms being built. People are visiting for a variety of reasons so it’s exciting to see that growth,” Senior Vice President Eli Matthews said.
Matthews says more than 5,200 people are currently employed with travel industry related careers.
They hope to encourage even more tourism, with the launch of a TV ad campaign across the West Coast.
Matthews will be presenting Medford’s success in the travel industry at the city council meeting tomorrow at noon.
