Medford Water Commission initiates new manager search

Medford, Ore. — The search is on for a new leader of the Medford Water Commission, after former manager Larry Rains resigned.

On Wednesday board members voted unanimously to retain Crown Hill Consulting for help in the search. That firm was also used to conduct a performance review of Rains this summer, amid issues of lead pipes in Medford’s water system.

Crown Hill Consulting will act as a liaison in finding 2 or 3 search firms who will then conduct a nationwide search.

“We have always promoted within,” MWC Board Chair Leigh Johnson says, “I think that we’re more interested in promoting somebody that has experience hopefully in municipality work but also is a good manager.”

The hope is to have a new manager by the start of the fiscal year which is next July. The cost for the search is not to exceed $100,000 dollars.
