Memorial fund set up for woman killed in crash

Medford, Ore. — The family of the woman killed over the weekend in a frightening crash is mourning tonight.

Katie Hein was killed early Sunday morning when police say Robert Brooks crashed his car into hers at Vilas and Table Rock Road as he fled from Medford Police.

In a post on the fundraising website GoFundMe, Katie’s son Jeremy Hein says his mom had just left his house about 15 minutes before the crash, after taking his daughter to an Oregon Shakespeare Festival play in Ashland.

He describes her as a woman who loved her family who had just won a long battle with breast cancer. She was also the sole breadwinner in the home after his father’s retirement and recent heart and prostate surgery.
