Men rescued from island after spelling out “help” using palm leaves

0411 helpPulap, FSM. — The three men were rescued after being stranded for three days on the uninhabited island of Fanadik, in the Federated States of Micronesia.

The men were rescued Thursday after spelling out “help” using palm leaves.

A United State Navy surveillance aircraft spotted the three men as they waived their orange lifejackets next to their palm leaf message.

The group was traveling traveling on a skiff between two Micronesian islands when their vessel was overtaken by a wave.

They reportedly spend the night swimming until they arrived at the island.

No injuries were reported.
