Missing Douglas County couple found safe

Douglas County, Ore. — A missing Myrtle Creek couple was found safe Tuesday afternoon by a U.S. Forest Service employee.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the Clyde and Peggy Snyder were reported missing on March 6 around 6:30 a.m.

Deputies said the couple left their home in their 1997 Subaru Legacy station wagon at approximately 11:00 a.m. on March 5 to drive in the woods.

They typically drove on Bureau of Land Management roads, but their exact route was unknown.

According to DCSO, there had been no contact with the couple up until they were found.

At around 2:45 Tuesday afternoon, A USFS employee found the Snyders approximately 31 miles up the snow covered South Umpqua Road near Tiller, according to deputies.

They both appeared to be in good health. Crews are still at the scene working to take the couple to safety.
