Mt. Ashland opening this weekend

12.21 MT ASHLAND POWER OUTAGEMt. Ashland, Ore. – Mt. Ashland will be officially opening on Sunday, December 4th.

After several seemingly snowless seasons, Mt. Ashland had a record season last year, and the hope is that this year is no different

“Overall, we reduced expenses last year and had a record revenue year of almost 2.5 million dollars in revenue,” boasted Mt Ashland General Manager Hiram Towle.

Much of the 13 inches of snow that’s fallen this season has melted, but that’s not stopping Mt Ashland Ski Area crews from prepping for what they hope will be another great season.

“We have to prepare the lifts, we have to prepare the lodge, get all of our amazing team hired and you know that’s what’s freshest in our mind just coming out of the job fair.”

In addition to the general maintenance and upkeep, visitors can expect some upgrades this season including a new text alert system. You can sign up HERE.

“Keep you instantly updated on road conditions, when we have a powder alert, you know over 6 inches, so you know its time to call in sick to work. We don’t condone that by way, we understand some people do that, haha,” Towle joked as his phone received one of the alerts.

There will also be updated trail signage and new gear.

“We now have 300 new snowboard, bindings, boots, and boards.”
