Murder suspects in court; victim’s brother speaks out

Grants Pass, Ore. — Two men appear in Josephine County Court for the first time Monday after allegedly murdering 43-year-old Crescent City man Roger Huntington.

Huntington’s brother, Charlie Mott, said the tragedy leaves he and other family members with a tremendous void.

“My brother had a heart of gold,” Mott said. “I’ve been with him on a cold day where we’ve ran across someone cold and he actually took his jacket off and gave it to them.”

Friday night Oregon State police found Huntington dead in his black Chevrolet Trailblazer at a boat ramp at Lake Selmac near Selma.

“He was supposed to be on his way to see my son, he lives in Ashland, so it’s a shock to find out that he didn’t make it,” Mott said.

Two men have been arrested in connection with his death, 22-year-old Carroll Ballard and 20-year-old Blake Sibley. They’re both Texas residents. They appeared in court for the first time Monday. They’re being held in the Josephine County Jail without bail on multiple charges including murder and robbery.

Mott said he’s glad they’re behind bars, but a conviction won’t help him with the loss.

“It won’t bring my brother back,” he said.

There’s still a third suspect on the loose. Police are looking for 23-year-old Marshall William McKenna. He’s also a Texas resident. Police said he could be armed and dangerous. He’s described as 5-foot-9, 160 lbs, with blonde hair and green eyes. If you see him or know where he might be you’re asked to call 911.
