Neighbors helping neighbors

Medford, Ore., — With an unexpected amount of snow hitting the valley floor, some people were left stranded at their homes.

Amy Cowan was one of them.

With an older, smaller car, she wasn’t getting through the snow, and was going to walk to the grocery store.

“It was point seven miles and I really honestly didn’t want to do that, but I would have. but I couldn’t with the stroller.”

She was in desperate need of formula for her son.

“My son was born 2 months premature, so very sensitive stomach, can only have one or two kinds of formula – and I would have stocked up had I known we were gonna get all this snow.”

But without a car that would make it through the snow, or a stroller, she was stuck.

That’s when Josiah Hein came in, taking Amy to three different stores to find the formula she needed.

“I know there’s a lot of people with small cars, and it’s their only mode of transportation, and obviously we don’t get this much snow in the valley normally, and a lot of people were caught off guard.”

With a bigger, heavy truck, and a lot of spare time – Josiah says it just made sense to help out.

“I just like helping people and how appreciative they are of it, you know they’re always super thankful, and they just appreciate it so much, and it makes me feel good.”

And Amy is truly grateful.

“I’ve thanked him so much because he didn’t have to do this, he just did it out of the kindness of his own heart.”
