New School Breaks Ground

A new school that will serve up to 100 students broke ground today.

The school is called New Bridge and will serve boys and young men at Rogue Valley Youth Correctional Facility in Grants Pass.

“Every youth here is gonna go back out in our communities and we’re trying to teach them to be good neighbors. So this puts them in a more normalized environment where they’ll have their own living unit, home, and they also walk to school each day to an actual school building,” Superintendent Ken Jerin said.

The 14,000 square foot school is expected to open next fall.

The $9.7 million project was funded during the 2015 Oregon legislative session.
