New training facility for first responders

FIRE FACILTY

White City, Ore.– A first of it’s kind fire and emergency training facility was introduced in the Rogue Valley with a ribbon cutting this morning.

Jackson County Fire District Three’s Regional Simulation House, also called ‘the SIM’ was opened to multiple first responder agencies for a tour this morning.

Moveable walls allow for ever-changing practice scenarios, making it a unique training prop for the region.  Before this training unit was built, first responders would have had to travel to Eugene for similar practice.

“Fire can have heat and smoke, law enforcement can practice active shooter or any kind of searching of a residential building and we can practice our ems skills and gurney movements,” says Jackson County Fire District Three Fire Chief Dan Petersen.

State Representative Peter Buckley was also in attendance, having played a big role in getting the simulation training facility fully funded by the state.
