Officer involved shooting in Siskiyou Co. being investigated

0520 police shootingUpdate (06/07 1:45 p.m.) — The man who was shot and killed by a California Highway Patrol officer has been identified by The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office as 31-year-old Daniel Jonathan Shaham. The SCSO said Shaham’s last known address was in Sacramento, California.


Siskiyou County, Ore — The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help with the investigation into an officer involved shooting that occurred over the weekend.

The SCSO said the incident involved a California Highway patrol officer. It happened Saturday morning around 10:00 on Louie Road, south of Yreka.

Siskiyou County Sheriff Jon Lopey said they received calls of a man standing outside his vehicle acting suspiciously.

Lopey couldn’t say what led up to the shooting or if the man was armed. The officer involved was not injured. The man who died has not been identified.

If you were driving by Louie Road and saw a pedestrian acting suspiciously, you’re asked to call the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office.
